The Calà del Sasso is the path, consisting of 4444 steps, which connects the town of Valstagna, in the Brenta Canal, the fraction Sasso di Asiago, in the Plateau of the Seven Communities in the Province of Vicenza, and is the longest staircase 'Italy〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Focus: qual è la scalinata più lunga del mondo )〕 as well as the world's longest staircase open to the public.〔The staircase is the world's longest stairway service funicular Niesen in Switzerland, with 11674 steps〕 The Calà del Sasso covers a levelling of 810 meters. The route is still largely supported by a ditch, made, as the steps themselves, in limestone: this ditch was used to transport timber downstream of the Plateau. Once in Valstagna, ''Calà del sasso'' ends near the river Brenta, where the logs were floated to Venice where they were used in the Arsenale for the construction of boats. == References == 〔
